Carlow Rural Information Services Project has joined forces with Carlow Tourism and Failte Ireland to develop Tourist Information Points in Borris, Hacketstown and Tullow. The three centres will now help develop the tourism potential of the county by extending the service available at Carlow’s main Tourist Office at College Street, Carlow. Each of the three CRISP Centres now carry a full range of tourism brochures and trained staff are on hand to deal with queries and to direct visitors to a variety of attractions throughout County Carlow and further afield. And as all the centres provide internet access for the public, further information on all the attractions is available online as well as links to Carlow’s Central Tourist Office in Carlow town, and accommodation providers throughout the county. TRACTOR NUTS RAISED OVER €16,000 FOR CHARITY In Borris they’re nuts about tractors…and charity too. The Borris and District Tractor Nuts have been fundraising for years for the Irish Cancer Society and Kidney Association. This year almost 300 tractors took part in the annual road run and a whooping €16,270 was raised. Organisers and participants of the event were in Coady’s Bar, Rathanna recently to present the cheques for €8,135 to each representative from both charities. A good crowd turned out to witness the cheque presentation on Saturday 7th August and music and finger food was provided as well as a bit of craic. “Nellie and Breda, the two ladies of the house in Coadys put on a great spread for us” said the club secretary. The success of the event is down to great support on the local area. To date more than €140.000 has been raised by the group through its annual road run which takes place every May. “This was our seventh year and our second as a two-day event. We got over €16,000 which is great for the year that’s in it” said the secretary
